1. I have satisfied all the conditions of the application, so why has my application been rejected and can I submit an appeal?
|
The government is not satisfied with your application. The decision of the minister is final and if you are still interested to become a citizen of Malaysia, you can submit a fresh application.
|
| 2. How can I expedite my citizenship application? |
You may submit a letter stating the reasons why you need the citizenship as soon as possible.
|
3. My child was born overseas and he/she is already one year old. Can I register the birth of my child to become a Malaysian citizen and where and how can I do so? |
You can submit an application for an extension of the registration of overseas birth to the minister via the headquarters by completing the same form as well as providing reasons for the late registration. An application can be made at any Malaysian Representative Office overseas or the nearest NRD office if you have returned to Malaysia.
|
| 4. My child was born in Singapore and I am a Malaysian citizen. How can my child become a Malaysian citizen? |
If your child was born in Singapore, you do not need to register the birth with the Representative Office in Singapore, and if your child wishes to reside in Malaysia one day, it is sufficient to apply for confirmation of citizenship status from the NRD through the Representative Office in Singapore and then apply for a certification of status from the Immigration Department.

|
| 5. My citizenship was revoked/rejected. How can I regain my Malaysian citizenship? |
You should obtain a PR status first from the Immigration Department. Then, you should apply for the approval of the minister under Article 18(2) of the Malaysian Constitution to allow you to apply to become a Malaysian citizen again upon satisfying all the conditions required to become a Malaysian citizen under the relevant articles of the Constitution. |

| 6. I am a citizen of Malaysia but I have no Certificate of Citizenship. Do I need proof of citizenship to renew my passport, apply for jobs and for my children's school registration? |
You are a citizen by law. For the above purposes, you may apply to the NRD for confirmation of citizenship status and you will be issued with a letter of confirmation of citizenship status which clarifies your citizenship status under the relevant articles of the Constitution. |
