Division Information
An overview of the key divisions under the National Registration Department and their main functions.
Citizenship Division
Responsible for processing citizenship applications, confirmation of citizenship, registration of births outside the Federation, citizenship records, amendments to citizenship documents, renunciation of citizenship and revocation of citizenship in accordance with the Federal Constitution.
Finance and Development Division
Plans and implements budget management, prepares budget requirement estimates, coordinates procurement processes and manages financial matters including salary, allowance, travel claims, goods and services payments.

Human Resource Management Division
Manages organisational development, personnel management and human resource development. This division also coordinates psychology and counselling programmes, the NRD Library and serves as the secretariat for Majlis Bersama Jabatan.

MEKAR and Corporate Division
Established in 2023 by combining the MEKAR Unit and the Corporate Communication Unit. The division plans, coordinates and monitors MEKAR programmes throughout NRD, while also managing corporate communication functions, Commissioner for Oaths matters and UTC coordination.
Investigation and Enforcement Division
Conducts investigations, intelligence, surveillance and enforcement operations involving breaches of NRD acts and regulations. The division also supports arrests, prosecution processes, biometric verification and the supply of records to enforcement agencies.

Digital and Information Technology Division
Provides information and communication technology services for NRD and related external agencies. Its role supports current technology needs and the main business activities of the Department.
