Application for Citizenship Status Under Article 14 of the Federal Constitution (Birth Abroad)
Application to verify the citizenship status of a person born abroad based on the citizenship status of the father.
- The applicant and the person being registered must be present before the Citizenship Registrar / Consular Officer when submitting the application in accordance with Rule 28 of the Citizenship Rules 1964 (Amendment 1996).
- Applicant is:
– Father or mother ;
– guardian or nearest relative. - Complete Form D and enclose copies of the required supporting documents.
The applicant and the person being registered are required to be present at the Citizenship Division counter NRDM Headquarters, Putrajaya or each State NRD Headquarters or Consular Office abroad and bring the original documents together with copies.
- DOCUMENTS OF THE PERSON BEING REGISTERED (ORIGINAL AND COPY)
- Birth Certificate or Extract Birth Certificate terbaru (Terjemahan birth certificate in Bahasa Malaysia or English by Court/Consular Office/public translator).
- Entry permit or passport or other travel documents.
- Three (3) recent passport-sized photographs with a blue background. Statutory Declaration (if applicable).
- PARENT & FATHER DOCUMENTS (ORIGINAL AND COPY)
- Birth Certificate or Extract Birth Certificate terbaru.
- Identity Card (if any).
- Pasport or lain-lain documents perjalanan.
- Certificate Citizen.
- Documents Marriage.
Note: All copies of supporting documents must be made on A4-sized paper.
- RM 20.00 fee registration application.
- RM 10.00 certificate issuance fees by the Embassy (if approved).
- RM 30.00 certificate issuance fees by the Registrar General of Citizens with the approval of the Minister of Home Affairs.
- All citizenship applications must use the original form. Forms can be obtained from NRD Headquarters, Putrajaya or any State NRD Headquarters/Branch. For application registration birth abroad and renunciation of citizenship, form bby can also be obtained from the Consular Office abroad.
- For a child born before the marriage is registered, the child status follows the mother status as stated under Section 17, Part III of the Second Schedule of the Federal Constitution.
