Updating a Divorce or Marriage Annulment Record

Updating the marital status in the NRD records after divorce / annulment / Order of Declaration (Foreign Divorce) decision from Absolute Decree Nisi issued by the Court.

Updating of divorce/cancellation marriage records with e-filing can only be done at the Putrajaya Headquarters / State Headquarters JPN.

Updating of Absolute Decree Nisi without e-filing system, only can be accepted and updated at the NRD Putrajaya. Only original Absolute Decree Nisi will be processed.

If the Absolute Decree Nisi without e-filing is a duplicate copy, please have the certified true copy from the Court that issued the Absolute Decree Nisi.

A divorce granted by a foreign court must to obtain a declaration order from the Malaysia High Court.

MyKad / Official identification document (original)

Valid passport and visa (original and copy).

Decree of Absolute Divorce / Marriage Annulment / Order of the High Court of Malaysia available in the e-filing system (original and copy)

If applicable:

Foreign Divorce Certificate (original)

Copy of Marriage Register (original)

Power of attorney if representing a lawyer appointed by the petitioner or respondent (original)

The applicant must submit any supporting documents requested by the NRD officer until the officer is satisfied with all documents

Marriage Record Update Letter (JPN.KC32) :

The application may be submitted at any NRD office

Fee: RM5

Only complete applications will be accepted and processed.

The application must provide any documents requested by the NRD officer, if required
