Application for Search or Extract of Marriage Register

This application is intended for the search or extract of the Register of Marriages for those who have registered a marriage under the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 [Act 164].

1. The review of marriage records through the NRD Computing System must be done first before determining the application made by the extract or search applicant.
2. An over-the-counter marriage register extract application will be processed and issued on the same day if a marriage record exists, complete and in order in the NRD Computing System for a fee of RM50.00.
3. Application for draw by mail can only be made for applicants who are abroad and processed within 14 working days from the date the application is received. The application will be processed provided that the application is in order, complete and the relevant marriage records exist in the NRD Computing System.
4. If the marriage record does not exist in the NRD Computing System, the applicant is advised to apply for a marriage record search in advance. The application process takes 14 working days for a fee of RM5.00 per search year.
5. Eligible applicants are :-
   a) One of the Spouses
   b) Inheritance (Children / Parents / Siblings);
       i) A copy of the identity card of one of the spouses.
       ii) If the parent or father is still alive, it is necessary to bring a power of attorney from the parent or;
       iii) If the parents cannot be traced, a High Court Order directing the NRD to issue a Marriage Register Search/Extract is required.
   c. Lawyer
   i) The lawyer submitting this application on behalf of his client must submit complete information including name and No. Mykad and lower the legal stamp in column C Form NRD.KC09
   
   NOSES : Parties unrelated to the couple’s marriage Not permitted to manage the search or extract of the Register of Marriages.

1. Marriage Registration Inspection and Search Form (NRD.KC09).
2. Application via Counter : MyKAD or ORIGINAL passport for non-citizens.
3. Application by Post: Copy of MyKAD or copy of Passport (page contains personal information).
4. Power of attorney from the owner of the Register of Marriages, if relevant (ORIGINAL).
5. Applications made through the lawyer’s office:-
   a) Form NRD.KC09.
   b) Official Letter from the lawyer’s office (ORIGINAL).
   c)A power of attorney from the attorney’s office is required, if the attorney delegates to another person to manage the search / extract application.
   d) Power of attorney from one of the spouses (ORIGINAL).
   e) A copy of the identity card of the lawyer and one of the spouses.
   f) Copy of marriage register (if any).
   g) A copy of the child’s birth certificate (if applicable).
   h) Copy of divorce document (Certificate of Absolute Nisi Decree from the Court / NRD.KC32).
   i) Application letter from the applicant if the application is made by post (ORIGINAL).

1. RM5.00 payment for each year required for marriage register search.
2. RM50.00 for the extract of the Marriage Register
