Search and Extract of the Marriage Register

A marriage register extract is the issuance of a copy of a marriage register that has been registered at the NRD.

Applications can be made at all NRD offices

Application by record owner

• MyKad (Original)

Application through family representative

• MyKad of heir (Original and copy)

• Document owner’s identification document (Copy)

• Letter of power of attorney to heir (Original)

Application through lawyer

Cover letter from law firm to NRD with legal license stamp (original)

Applicant’s identification document (Copy)

Lawyer and lawyer’s representative identification document (Copy)

Appointment letter from client to law firm (Original)

Appointment letter from law firm to firm’s representative if representing lawyer (Original)

All certificates and supporting documents that are not in Bahasa Malaysia or English must be translated.

Certified translations must be done in Malaysia and fully signed with the translator’s original stamp.

Registers that have been updated in the NRD system can be issued on the same day

Only complete applications will be accepted and processed.

The applicant must submit any supporting documents requested by the NRD officer, if required

Searching for marriage record is the process of searching for records of marriage registers that have been registered at the NRD in accordance with the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 (Act 164).

Applications may only be submitted at NRD Putrajaya or a State NRD Headquarters.

Application through lawyer

Lawyer and lawyer’s representative identification document (Copy)

Marriage information such as:

Date of marriage

Place of marriage registration / solemnization
