Consent to Marriage for a Person Aged 18 but Below 21 (JPN.KC01B)
Subject to Section 12, Act 164, a person who has not reached the age of 21, despite having attained the age of majority as prescribed by the Age of Adulthood Act 1971, is also required, before marriage, to obtain written consent:
a) his father or mother;
b) if the person is illegitimate, his/her mother;
c) if the person is an adopted child, his adoptive father or adoptive mother; or
d) if both of his/her parents (actual parents or adoptive parents) are dead, the person who took his/her parent’s place before he/she reached that age; or
e) from the High Court of Malaysia.
- Marriage Consent Form (NRD.KC01B) to be signed before the Registrar of Marriages or Malaysian Representatives abroad.
- The presence of the applicant together with one of the contact categories as listed in Section 12, Act 164.
- Only complete and organized marriage applications will be accepted.
- Marriage Consent Form (NRD.KC01B).
- Identity document of the person giving consent.
- MyKad (ORIGINAL and copy).
- Passport and Visa (valid) / MyKAS / MyPR for foreign nationals (ORIGINAL and copy).
For Passport and Visa holders a copy of the cover letter containing personal information as well as the latest date of arrival in Malaysia is required). - NRD reserves the right to request any supporting documents from the applicant before the application can be accepted.
